Welcome to the SANE Self-Study Modules!
Don’t wait to the last minute! The instructors for our 6-day
SANE training assume that you are already familiar with the content in the
self-study modules. More importantly, self-study
modules completed after the deadline will not be included in the SANE
Certificate of Training.
The first six (6) modules are mandatory.
Please complete Modules 001-006 for which you will receive eight (8)
nursing CE's. From the remaining list of modules (numbers 007-010),
select and complete a minimum of two of the four modules. If you complete more than the minimum, you will be awarded the extra CE's for those modules, but you must have at least 10 CE hours from the self-study modules.
Mandatory Modules:
Module 001 - Overview of SANE Exam (1.0 CE)
Module 002 - Roles and Responsibilities of SANE (1.0 CE)
Module 003 - Patient Confidentiality and Relevancy of HIPAA (1.5 CE)
Module 004 - SANE Data (1.0 CE)
Module 005 - Vaginal Speculum Examination (2.0 CE)
Module 006 - Healthy Human Sexuality (1.5 CE)
Select and Complete at Least Two of These Modules:
Module 007 - Sexual Assault Patients with Physical Disabilities (1.0 CE)
Module 008 - Sexual Assault Patients with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (1.0 CE)
Module 009 - Child Sexual Abuse: It's Normal to be Normal (1.25 CE)
Module 010 - Healthy Child Sexual Behavior and Child Sexual Abuse (1.25 CE)
Your nursing CE awards for these modules will be provided to you on the
last day of the 6-day SANE training. At that time, you will have an opportunity
to review your graded answers.
The deadline for
completing the SANE Self-Study Modules is the Monday before
the second weekend of the 6-day SANE training!
As of 2010, New Mexico
SANE nurses must document an initial
SANE training of 64 Nursing CE hours that combines pediatric, adolescent, and adult
sexual assault content. The
self-study
modules provide 10 CE hours and the 6-day training is approved for 54
CE hours.
Upon completion of the self-study and 6-days, you will receive a SANE
Certificate
of Training that reflects the required 64 CE hours. To receive the SANE
Certificate of Training, you must complete the self-study modules by
midnight of the Monday before the second weekend of the 6-day SANE
training.
